For the Love of Money … and Real Estate

The exodus from the Northeast and other high-tax states has begun even before the first snowflake falls. In the coldest months of
the year, the average daily high in Boca Raton, Florida is at least 70 degrees. Taxed to the hilt, more homebuyers from high-tax
states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, and Illinois are migrating to Florida to escape the cold and … the high taxes.

Getting to call Florida home means living where others
daydream about spending their vacation. When your
backyard is Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton, Florida; paradise
is all around you in the form of draw-dropping nature,
award-winning amenities and services, and tax advantages.

Owning your own home in the Sunshine State comes
with many perks, including increasing your net worth
as Florida charges no state income tax (Federal tax law
changes in 2017 placed a $10,000 cap on the amount of
local and state taxes that households could deduct
from their tax returns).

Moving to Florida from a state like New York can save someone in a high-income tax bracket thousands of dollars in taxes - and
oftentimes more. There are also tax exemptions in Florida available for active duty military and veterans as well as homeowners
aged 65 and older.

People who previously were coming to Florida to buy a second home are now looking for primary residences in Palm Beach County. Permanent residents are even eligible for a homestead exemption of up to $50,000. The Florida Homestead Exemption can decrease the taxable value of your primary residence by as much as $50,000, which means lower real estate taxes.
