Grateful Hearts Gather Here
Thanksgiving encourages us to rededicate our efforts to generosity, gratitude, and giving. Thanksgiving is good for the
spirit as well as the belly. Hunger doesn’t take the holidays off. At Broken Sound Club, we’ve made it our mission to
help those in need, which is why our Social Committee does a spectacular job of collaborating with the game-changer
organization, Blessings in a Backpack.

Blessings in a Backpack strategically mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends
for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

There are more than 13 million children in this country who are at risk of hunger. The consequences of hunger are much
more severe than a growling stomach. Specifically, malnutrition can lead to a weaker immune system, lower IQ, shorter
attention spans, and lower academic achievement.

Gratitude and generosity go hand in hand, especially at our Club. Throughout the year, Broken Sound Club members
help fill backpacks consisting of nutritious meals.
Robyn Hoffberger, Member of the Board of Governors and Liaison to the Social Committee at Broken Sound Club,
describes below the indelible mark Club members of all ages have made on successfully executing the mission of
Blessings in a Backpack:

"The Social Committee got involved with Blessings in a Backpack about two-and-a-half years ago
when I was chairperson of the committee. Marilyn Shapera is now the new chairperson. This activity
has morphed into a Broken Sound Club community monthly event. Jamie Friedman and her high school volunteers
buy the food, set up the packing nights, and deliver the food to the kids every Friday. One Thursday night a month
Members of Broken Sound Club gather to fill the bags that go into the backpacks. We usually pack
about 200 bags in 25 minutes. It takes $130 a year to fund one child, so we are always
accepting donations to Blessings in a Backpack. Cindy Crowder chairs the Annual Turkey Trot
at Broken Sound Club to raise money for this important cause. Come out and trot around
BSC at 9:30 am on November 30th (Breakfast available before). Remember hunger doesn’t take weekends off!"

What are practical, helpful ways to help others in need? Can we donate more funds or volunteer more time? How can
we serve as models of giving - for our children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, and friends? These are just a few
of the important questions that can serve as mindful table talk at your Thanksgiving meal.

Thanksgiving presents a wonderful opportunity to engage in meaningful action surrounding giving and philanthropy.
The holiday not only inspires feelings of gratitude and generosity, but it also offers a chance for multiple generations to
come together in one place and discuss their mission of philanthropy.

Giving takes many forms here at Broken Sound Club, such as helping others, performing acts of kindness, and
practicing generosity. That’s because gratitude and generosity are part of our DNA. Express your thanks this holiday
season by involving the whole family and all your friends in volunteering and/or donating. If you want to be a
difference-maker, look no further than Broken Sound Club for your chance to cultivate caring, sharing, and giving.

Who We Are: Community, Connection & Camaraderie at Broken Sound Club
The private members club scene at Broken Sound Club is defined by these three C’s: community, connection, and
camaraderie. Broken Sound Club is an invaluable place to develop and strengthen friendships.

For some, membership is family-focused with residents seeking a variety of fun and educational activities for children
and adults. For others, it is the vibrant nightlife and social culture that is the sine qua non. There are also those who
join because they are motivated by a passion to play at an award-winning tennis or golf club facility. Broken Sound Club
caters to all these needs and more. The common denominator as to the driving force behind joining Broken Sound Club?
A lasting sense of belonging.

“When my husband and I decided to spend more time in Florida, the obvious choice
was buying a home in Broken Sound. Having visited cousins there for several years,
we knew this was the community for us. We have already availed ourselves
to the magnificent fitness center, delicious restaurants, the morning bagel and coffee breakfast,
and we will be looking toward getting into tennis games and special events.
The residents have been so warm offering advice, information, and friendship.
We look forward to a long, fun, stimulating, and joyful life at Broken Sound.”
- Nanci Sklar

Our friendly, active membership is what defines us. It also fuels a warm welcome for new members, such as Mrs. Sklar.
We go to great lengths to ensure members are as involved in the life of the Club as they want to be. Our members share
a love of fine living and sporting finesse, they embrace conservation stewardship, and they demonstrate exceptional
generosity with an enduring commitment to philanthropy and the South Florida community.

The individual values and interests of Broken Sound Club Members come together to create a more perfect, affable,
luxurious, and comfortable club to call home. Our rich heritage of diverse activities and programs, including health and
wellness programs, spa, wine tastings, world-renowned guest lecturers, film screenings, painting parties - unite members
in deep, everlasting ways.

“It’s incredible how sociable people are. Between the
happy hours, fitness center, and my wife’s involvement with tennis,
there’s always something to do and we’re always busy. We’ve met
so many new people and it’s easy to stay active and engaged at
Broken Sound Club,”
remarks Neil Frank.

Mr. Frank’s wife, Adrienne, enthusiastically agrees: “I can't say enough about all the new friends I have made. Such
warm and friendly people and so easy to develop friendships when you are seeing them regularly at fitness classes, on
the tennis court - especially the patio - such an inviting space to socialize! Happy hours are always fun - just show up
without having to make plans and instant entertainment and socialization!”

In our global world, the craving for community spurs many to join Broken Sound Club. Our membership boasts an
impressive number of interests, talents, and professional and philanthropic involvement. Through committees, mixers,
cultural activities, and trips inside and outside the Broken Sound Club gates, there are many opportunities to develop
friendships and give back to the community.

For the Love of Money … and Real Estate

The exodus from the Northeast and other high-tax states has begun even before the first snowflake falls. In the coldest months of
the year, the average daily high in Boca Raton, Florida is at least 70 degrees. Taxed to the hilt, more homebuyers from high-tax
states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, and Illinois are migrating to Florida to escape the cold and … the high taxes.

oftentimes more. There are also tax exemptions in Florida available for active duty military and veterans as well as homeowners
aged 65 and older.

People who previously were coming to Florida to buy a second home are now looking for primary residences in Palm Beach County. Permanent residents are even eligible for a homestead exemption of up to $50,000.
