The Jim McLean Junior Championship is South Florida’s newest tradition. Broken Sound Club has partnered with Jim McLean to support and encourage junior golf not just in the area but worldwide! The Old Course at Broken Sound is known for its world-class facility and hosting of the TimberTech PGA Champion’s Tour event. Tucked away in an oak-lined setting, you'll discover an unparalleled golf experience.

Home to the PGA Tour Champions Season Opener for 15 consecutive years (2007-2021), The Old Course is a secluded 18-hole course designed by industry leaders, Joe Lee (1978) Gene Bates (2004), and Rees Jones (2022). Hidden in the heart of Boca Raton, this golfer's sanctuary offers the camaraderie and ambiance you would expect in a traditional golf club in an unexpected private place.

Reminiscent of courses in the Pinehurst, North Carolina area, you play the renowned course through a landscape of woods, stone bridges, wildlife, lakes, and lagoons. The Northern course style, with its varied elevation and eighty-five bunkers fulfill the needs of even the most diehard golfer. Although it has very small undulations compared to most clubs, the greens have been voted the best greens on the champions Tour by officials and players for the past fifteen years.

Jim McLean has taught Tim Kite, Cristie Kerr, Liselotte Neumann, Lexi Thompson, Keegan Bradley, and Gary Woodland, all who have gone on to win major championships. He has authored 14 books including The X Factor, Eight Step Swing, and two Golf Digest Book of Drills. McLean has qualified for the US Junior, 3 US Amateurs, 2 US Opens, and made the cut in the Masters. He owns the number 1 ranked golf school in America and over 250 of his past teachers are either head professionals or directors of instruction at top private clubs in the USA. Jim McLean and Broken Sound Club want to welcome an exceptional group of junior golfers and to provide an unforgettable golf experience.

Golf Tournament Fee Includes:
  • 36 Holes of Championship Golf
  • Practice Round
  • Practice Facility Usage (Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Area)
  • Reception and Closing Ceremony
  • Daily Lunch During the Tournament
  • Use of Locker Rooms During Tournament
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Open to junior golfers who will not yet be 19 years of age by March 23, 2024, who have not graduated high school or started college
  • Registration fee is $250 per person
  • Application deadline will be February 1, 2024. Based on resume and ranking, some players will be accepted early
  • Tournament acceptance will be based on your application resume. Submitting an application does not guarantee tournament entry. The final list of accepted players will be posted on the website by February 13, 2024.
  • 2023 participants are exempt in to 2024 event if they register by January 15, 2024.
